Want chronic backpain for rest of your life? Join Infosys Mangalore today! Their office is 25 kms outside the city in some "middle-ages" village. There are no amenities next to the new Infosys office in this village - no schools, colleges, hospitals, malls, jobs for your better-half. So, the only option is to stay in the city, a small and congested place 25 km away from the office. "Ok, so what is the big deal? 25 kms is not that far" you might ask. Well, it is a BIG deal. Infact, it is one of the biggest deals for lot of people. Some of those listed below:
1. As my opening statement says - It is a big deal for all those doctors in Mangalore specializing in back pains and other joint pains. The travel to the new office is one of the best thrill-ful roller coaster ride your tax money can buy. The road is full of pot holes, infact calling it "pot holes" is an understatement and would be an insult to people "maintaining" these roads. They are in fact fit to be called "meteorite impacts"
2. It is a big deal for all those car repair shops, they get to repair broken axles, shock absorbers, vibrations in your car. Well, you guessed right. It is because of all these "meteorite holes"
3. It is a big deal for all those restaurants who are happy to provide meals in the night. We engineers do not have the time to cook, as the 3 hours to and fro travel to this office leave us terribly exhausted.
4. It is big deal for those bus transport providers that Infosys has arranged for us to travel to this office - they have a guaranteed and committed business from us. We pay 3 times more than the locals to travel on this same bus.
5. It is a big deal for those canteen vendors at Infosys - We have to start so early, we do not have time to have breakfast or prepare our lunch. Our only option is to eat the dog food in the canteen.
6. It is a big deal for all those property owners in the city - They can charge whatever they want as rent, pay off their EMI using our rent money, some even sponsor their daughter's wedding using just the rent money they collect.
